zTimer is a portable and tiny (59 KB) program which really helps to control run time of tasks and doing them more quickly. It shows countdown timer on a small always-on-top window. It has two additional seconds counters (total time and total time without time for pauses). After end of time the timer became count-up and blinks red.

Controls:
click on a window with a mouse right button to show context menu;
double click on window to toggle pause;

use 'L' button to toggle "automatic pause on computer lock" mode;
window transparency can be set by mouse wheel.
