The new firmware, revision 1370, is supposedly designed to improve performance specifically when coupled with Windows 7 and should increase the maximum read and write speeds of both the UltraDrive ME and UltraDrive LE.
According to Super Talent, the UltraDrive ME will see sequential read and write speeds rise to 260MB/s and 200MB/s, respectively, while the SLC-based UltraDrive LE is said to reach 260MB/s and 210MB/s speeds. On top of the firmware treat for Super Talent SSD owners, the company also introduced the “UltraDrive Performance Refresh Tool.” This is actually the most interesting aspect of the announcement, as it addresses an increasing concern regarding the fate of SSDs: performance degradation over time.
Without going much into details, Super Talent says the new tool allows users to “refresh performance should they experience performance degradation associated with all SSDs when files become fragmented and data becomes stale.”
